The founder

Built by somebody who lived it.

Long before there was a brand, a book, or a movement, there was a young girl driving to her grandparents' house on the weekends. They would be waiting for her with a shoebox of important papers. Insurance policies. Letters from the bank. Documents nobody had explained to them. They trusted her to help them understand what was inside.

That shoebox is where Somebody Shoulda Told Us™ began.

Tinisha learned then what most of us learn too late: that financial literacy is an act of love, and that when the people we love don't have it, the people who do have a responsibility to share it. She learned that important papers don't explain themselves. That systems don't always make the right choices clear. That somebody has to sit down at the table and tell the truth in plain language.

Years later, when she founded her company, she made a quiet prayer: If God would bless this work, she would spend her life sharing financial knowledge with His people, building the Kingdom, and being a blessing to families. That prayer is still the assignment. Every workshop, every kitchen-table conversation, every page of the book is a continuation of it.

Why I wrote it

For 18 years I've been sitting at kitchen tables with families. After almost every conversation, after I'd shown them where the gaps were, where the money was leaking, where the protection was missing, somebody would look at me and say:

"I wish somebody had told me this sooner."

"Why didn't anybody tell us about this?"

I heard it so many times it stopped sounding like a sentence and started sounding like an assignment. I believe part of the purpose God placed on my life is to take what I've learned at those tables and put it where more people can find it. To tell the truth with integrity. To open eyes to what families really have, and what they really need.

This book is 18 years of those conversations. It's the one I wish every family had on the kitchen table before the day they need it.
